SCM Globe Simulation Concepts

As the saying goes, “It’s not what you know, but what you can remember when you need it.” Since there is an infinite amount of detail in any situation, the trick is to find useful models that capture the salient facts and provide a framework to organize the rest of the relevant details.

SCM Globe is a way to model the salient facts of any supply chain anywhere in the world. And then you can simulate the daily operations of that supply chain to see where you can improve the supply chain design.

SCM Globe is able to model any real or fictitious supply chain by enabling you to define and combine any mix of these four supply chain entities:

[ Note: The User Manual is moving to the Online Guide. Look in the guide for the most up to date information about using SCM Globe. Start with the Getting Started section of the guide; it has what you need to get started – short videos and tutorials you can scan in 15 – 30 minutes.]

Supply chain operating behavior comes from the interactions between these four objects. This is true for SCM Globe models and also for real world supply chains. You can apply supply chain principles taught in textbooks to solve real-world problems you encounter in the SCM Globe case studies.

SCM Globe connects supply chain theory with practice. Everything you learn in SCM Globe you will also be able to apply in the real world. You will start using supply chain terminology and concepts to discuss the problems you encounter (like learning to speak a new language) and you will find solutions that are applications of supply chain principles ranging from inventory management to delivery scheduling.

By defining and combining these four objects in different ways, you can create an amazing accurate model of any supply chain. And then you can simulate it and fine tune its operations to achieve the highest levels of performance.
