Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment and Approach to Maintaining Accessible Products

SCM Globe (SCMG) recognizes the importance of ensuring our website is accessible to those with disabilities. We are committed to making our information accessible to visitors with disabilities and are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (https://www.ada.gov/).

This website endeavors to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible and we are working to educate our staff and contributors so that content they may post on our website will be compliant with these guidelines and be accessible to all visitors. SCMG is also Section 508 and Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) compliant (https://www.section508.gov/). SCMG strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability as comprehensively as possible on this website.

Web Browsers

SCMG is a web-based application that runs under four web browsers: Chrome; Edge; Firefox; and Safari. All of these browsers support screen readers and magnifiers, and offer people with low vision full-page zoom, high-contrast color and extensions.

Google Maps

SCMG leverages capabilities of Google Maps to provide features that enable users to model and simulate supply chain operations. Read full statement of Google Maps ADA compliance here – https://developers.google.com/maps/premium/accessibility

Videos and Captions

Videos incorporate features to make them accessible to everyone. All videos are hosted on the SCMG channel at YouTube. Videos have closed captioning (CC) available. In addition, all material presented in video tutorials is also presented on the SCMG website as online tutorials using still pictures and explanatory text. So this material can be accessed in a variety of formats to support a wide audience.

Document Formats

Some documents on the SCMG website are produced in portable document format (PDF). In order to improve viewing these files, please download the latest version of Adobe Reader, which is available for free at the Adobe website. Alternative accessible formats also are provided, where possible, most commonly through a text or an HTML file.

Some documents are provided in the form of Google Docs and Google Sheets. We follow the recommendations provided by Google to make these documents accessible. Read a full report of the recommendations here – https://support.google.com/docs/answer/6199477?hl=en

This Website’s Conformance with Official Accessibility Guidelines

In upgrading to this new website during July and August of 2018 considerable improvements were made over our earlier website to increase accessibility. This website has achieved “Level AA” conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and our intention is to continue work as needed to maintain that conformance.

Areas for Improvement and Timelines

Our most recent web accessibility audit for this website was on 25 Jul 2018. We are aware of some areas on the website where we could further improve accessibility, and we are working to achieve this. Listed in the table below are several known issues.

Section of Website Need for Improvement Timeline for Improvement Alternative Access
Header Menu Section Masthead logo does not have an image ‘alt’ tag. As the image in question is a logo, and non-informative, this has been assigned a low priority. N/A
Inline Images in Content Multiple images inline with content throughout the site currently lack ‘alt’ tags. Efforts to improve accessibility of all the inline images in our web content are ongoing. We have ‘alt’ tags in place for all imagery,  and to continue to improve our image descriptions moving forward. If you’re having problems accessing the images on our site, please contact us with the URL of the page in question and we’ll be more than happy to assist you.
